Known as an innovator, the brewery, under the direction of General Manager Mr. Fang has taken the initiative to reduce the environmental footprint of its operation once again showing leadership in China's brewing industry and rising environmental movement.

Mr. Fang introduced the widespread concept of recycling and reduction into the developmental principles of the Brewery Group. Pointing out developing recycling programs and constructing an ecological enterprise has become the developing trend within the beer trade throughout the entire world.

Seeing it as inevitable and a social responsibility there are now 3 main projects of recycling and reduction that have been put into action. Now every year the Zhujiang Brewing Group saves a total of 6 million HL of water per capita. Water consumption has now reached 49.9 HL, lower than 102.4 HL average in China, lower than 56 HL average throughout the world. For per capita energy consumption of 82.45 kg of standard coal the brewery reduced usage a further 4%. Zhujiang Brewery has taken relevant measures to recover CO2, spent grain and wasted yeast and in recent years, Zhujiang has committed over 3 million CDN dollars to improve waste water treatment. Zhujiang has also committed more than 1 million CDN dollars for the desulphurization of the boiler centre and the chimney exhaust of its of power station. In recognition of it meeting its environmental obligations, Zhujiang was awarded Top Environmental Friendly Enterprise, the leading award in the newly developing Chinese Environmental Protection Program.
